History (Can Be) in the Making

I'd be a fool if I didn't put aside at this moment all other interests, desires and thoughts to speak on what I believe is the most important moment in history in my lifetime and yours. I am talking about "The Dream" finally being fulfilled and realized with this year's presidential election and the man simply known as Barack Obama. This man believes that he can be elected to the highest office: the President of the United States of America. I want to touch on an aspect of this historic event that I haven't heard anyone come out and talk about. Everyone is talking around this issue except maybe Whoopi Goldberg on "The View." Actually there are three issues: "Racism", "Prejudice" and "Fairness".

No matter what anyone says, Racism plays a great role in why some folks do not want to see Barack Obama succeed in his race to the White House. Here's a question? Why in all these years, when there has never been a person of color or mixed heritage running for president until now, but only "White males", why have black people in America gone to the polls and placed votes for these white males, never once questioning their responsibility to elect a president out of the choices that they have been given...and why have us black people (all of us) never questioned why we are voting for these white males when black men of equal intelligence and experience were not even given a chance to run for president? But as soon as a qualified black man decides to run for president, white people are digging in the dirt, trying to find any objection or reason (however small) as to why a black man should not be voted for, especially by white people.

I see a double standard in that, which brings me to the second point: prejudice. When we talk about prejudice and history, who has been the bully and who has been the victim? That is a very easy question to answer, if you answer it honestly. My thoughts here are not meant to divide, because black people have always gone along with what the white man says must be and we haven't complained. But why? Why haven't we complained about the prejudices that have been so boldly leveled against the black people on this earth?

Are Americans being fair? In general, are white Americans being fair to black people and Barack Obama? I'm not going to go into detail here. There is no need to. Any intelligent person who watches the news reports and reads about the loops white America wants Barack Obama to jump through daily, knows how unfair life is for black America. While John McCain, Sarah Palin and other white politicians can get away with murder literally and still have the audacity to expect votes from the black man and we go along with it because we have never up until now had another choice, I can clearly say that I know those days are over. We now have our eyes open wide and we now have a candidate who represents not only us, but white America as well. And we will go to the polls to vote for Barack Obama. All I ask is that you, White America, do the same thing for this candidate that we have been doing for your candidate for all these years.

Yes, this is history in the making and as the dream was promised for all Americans, we finally have a chance to put aside race, prejudice and unfairness to elect the right man for the job. It's as simple as that.

So Much Betta!

To borrow from janet, I am so much betta even though so much has happened and I keep weathering the storms. This post is going to feature the very handsome and long-haired actor Ryan Gentles. You have seen him recently on the Jennifer Hudson video for Spotlight. I dont know why all of a sudden I am taken with him. Actually, I think once he cuts his famous locks, he will get better roles and become the next Denzel. Now I dont know if he can really act; I dont think he has been given the chance yet, but I feel confident that he will wake up one morning and cut all that shit off and go out there with a whole new attitude. You know, sometimes that is what you have to do. My nephews came and stayed with me and A. for over a month. One is 16, one 10, the other 5...plus we had A's nephews, one 11 and one 7 or 8. Man, was it ever stressful. But so worth it. I would do it again a thousand times. Those kids are the best. What I learned about myself is that I would be a great father, but I have known that all along. Anyway, all I want to try to communicate right now is that I dont know the future, but I know that I will be okay...alone, with someone or maybe my whole life will change or I will change it. I just know that whatever happens, I will survive and be so much betta. Sorry for waiting so long for a post; been busy trying to finally live, but if I prioritize right, I should be able to live in this space as well :)
I give you two from Tyler Perry's menagerie: Lamman Rucker and Ryan Gentles because two men are so much betta than one.

JD from Bravo TV's WorkOut

And if you prefer cream in your coffee, take a look at trainer/masseuse J.D. There's just something about J.D. He seems so sweet but looks like he could be rough any minute.
Two videos at the start of this Post.

2 from The Real World

Have you been checking out The Real World? This is one of the best seasons that I can remember in the last couple of years. There are two standouts and one of them was just put off the show because he got fired from his job...
prefer deep-voiced, tall andWill (if you prefer caramel and dreds) and Greg (if you chocolate). I'm not even gonna lie, for all the lying and conniving that Greg did on the show, that want-to-be model could walk on my runway any day of the week!

New Technology? Worth it!

Let me start this Post out by saying: "I had to cut the cord!" My baby brother (who is not a baby at 26) was reaping the benefits of me paying for his cell phone line. The bad part of this deal (meaning my end of it) is that I was getting stuck with his incredible usage of minutes. I switched providers, got a newer, fancier phone and said goodbye to the extra line that was killing my bank account. My brother was cool about it and he knew it was just a matter of time before I caught on to the fact that he had an awesome arrangement. Now I am tryin to use this new phone that has many more features than the old cell phone I have had for years and years that would only hold a charge for as long as it took me to walk down a flight of stairs. I realized that I had been resisting technology by not wanting to upgrade my phone. In all other areas of technological advances, I am the first to jump on the bandwagon and purchase a new computer, music device or the latest Playstation. But when it came to getting a new phone, I panicked. Something about so much technology in something so small you can hold it in the palm of your hand. Or maybe it was the fact, that besides wanting to make sure that I could contact my family in another state, I really never felt I had much need for a cell phone. Like Keiysha Cole, I've changed my mind. Now that I have a phone with a music player and video capture, I'm realizing that for too many years I thought I wasn't worthy of having a high priced phoned. I have to tell you I am simple minded when it comes to material things; I never felt I needed and deserved to have the best device out there that money could buy. But after moving to two states and finally making it here in Chicago, I deserve whatever life brings my way...and if it's the best that new technology has to offer, I accept and you know what? I know without a doubt that I'm finally worth it!
Speaking of Worth it...check out the pics below.
These guys are definitely worth it:

DANNY GRANGER of my hometown team The Indiana Pacers.

LYTEL YOUNG from HGTV's Save My Bath.

STERLING K. BROWN from the critically acclaimed Lifetime series: Army Wives. He plays Roland Martin. There's something so sexy about blue-black skinned guys and his strong jawline combined with his ample lips drives me k-razy!

NEW THINGS/NEW SOUNDS

This is my somewhat annual New Music mix issue. I predict that these will be the songs and artists of Summer 08. Check out Neyo's latest, also Chris Brown taking it off (if you're into that boyish look), Newly discovered but very talented singer & songwriter Ryan Leslie and new lady on the block: Estelle with her debut release Shine. Also, just got that new Madonna cd: HARD CANDY. And I am loving it.
Some new changes will be happening with this blog in the very near future, so keep a look out.
I have been wanting to post something on Ryan Leslie for quite a while. He has worked with all the big names including P. Diddy. He may already have an album out. Check out his channel on YouTube if your're as smitten as I am. Enjoy all the pics and music videos that follow.
You'll hear from me soon.

FORCES OF NATURE

What's good everyone? I'm glad to be posting on this Thursday. It's my sister's birthday. Happy Birthday KiKi. I will see her next week and the party will be on I'm sure.
Life has taken so many unexpected turns for me recently and I dont quite know what it all means right now. All I know is that life keeps changing in strange and mysterious ways. Sometimes years go by before you realize why this thing is happening in your life. Life: Always changing, Always Evolving...like my girl Madonna; she's ready to drop her new CD HARD CANDY.

One Sexy Mama and 3 Sexy Men (In My Opinion)
Madonna's Back and looking hotter than ever. At 50, this lady outshines all the other one-named Divas. Click Below :
