This is my first test to adding video to my blog. Video is a bit dark, but oh well, this is only a test. Enjoy my cats.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY A!

Well, well, well, well...what a weekend. In case you haven't noticed, anytime you see a late post from me...it means I had a too busy weekend. It was A's birthday and A's cousin and I (along with A's family from Iowa) decided to throw A a 3-day birthday celebration, including Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Friday night I cooked a pot of chilli...on Saturday, I prepared and grilled 200 shishkabobs. On Sunday, A's family made down home southern food. Here it is 3 days later and I am still tired. I will be visiting my family this week also. Here are some interesting blokes to tide you over with until I get back up to speed.
Joakim Noah was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in 2007 out of the University of Florida. ..interesting hair, huh?
.

from the very talented and more than meets the eye Hill Harper (from CSI New York) comes his new book : Letters To A Young Brother...Mr. Harper has been mentoring and inspiring young men for several years; he includes actual letters he has received from young brothers and his responses in his book.

Chucky Venice on Kathy Griffin My Life on the D-List this week. She visits England and goes on a date with the very handsome actor from Footballers Wives. Lucky lady!!!

The Taste
I am sorry I haven't been posting with a regularity that I had hoped to produce my posts. That being said, in the future, I am hoping to transition to a video blog...I just need the time to sit down and figure it all out. Time is something you would think I have a lot of, but even though I am only working part-time, keeping up the house and driving a two-hour commute each day, takes up more time than you know. Plus I will add that A. likes to get out and about and A. usually invites me along, so whether it be a movie, shopping or just eating out, staying on the go and not at home eats up huge blocks of a day. This past week, I had two job interviews and I am claiming that I will hear some good news soon. I also visited downtown Chicago about 3 times, two of those outings were going to "The Taste of Chicago." For those of you who have not heard of this event, it is basically one of the biggest festivals that involves local restaurants and eateries selling their wares; there is also live entertainment, but mostly it is about the food and people, meaning crowds & crowds of people. When we went today with our cousin and A's sister and nephew, the crowd wasn't that bad, but the heat was terrible. We drank plenty of water, but still all that walking and heat drained the energy out of each and everyone of us.We came back and started preparing for A's birthday next weekend and judging from our discussions, I am not going to get a breathing break for a minute. My only regret in all of this activity is that I have not been able to visit my beloved family in Indianapolis. I did talk to my sister today and she told me that she is now working. Thank GOD!!!that is some good news. In a future post I want to talk about what it means to be spiritual. Because I haven't been going to church for quite a spell, A. and I got into a little conversation on whether I was spiritual or not. Well, just so you know, I am...but I am not going to hit anyone over the head with it. I prefer to move in a quiet and encouraging way that I think suits me.
I have started on a new piece of art, but with all I have to do this week, I won't get near a paint brush until next week. These photos are from the movie "Stomp the Yard," which is where I am getting my inspiration for the artwork:

Seeing Double
Sorry for the very late posting, but it has been a busy week. Things are starting to happen on the job front. I will keep you updated.

Recommendation: "Inspired By the Bible Experience." This all-star cast recording inspired by the "Today's New International Version" is the best book/bible on cd I have ever listened to. Blair Underwood as Jesus...you just can't go wrong. Gather the family together, young and old, and sit around your personal listening device. You and the family will be caught up in an instant in a magnificent production that is The Bible Experience.
I watched the BET Awards a couple of days ago and the theme appeared to be the legacy of past artists inspiring the new generation of artists. This led me to obvious influences in today's hip hop arena. Young Buck had to have referenced Tupac's Rolling Stone cover for his Album CD cover for "Buck the World."
What do you think?
